spell checker doesn't correct mispelt words

I have just installed Office Professional 2007. My problem is that the spell
checker doesn't correct mispelt words which renders it completely useless to
me. I have never had any problems in the past with previous Office programs.
I have tried altering the settings but nothing works. I'm getting sick of
rechecking everything I write over and over when I shouldn't have to. Is
there anything that anyone can do or tell me about this problem?

Try providing some clues about does happen, so the folks at least have a
starting place to help you.

What I did was after I loaded office Professional 2007 I ran my MS office 97
disc, and clicked on custom install, Then I deselected everything, clicked on
tools but did not check it, then I selected the tab to the right, change
options, in there I selected spell checker only(but I also selected ms office
short cut bar, because thats not in 2007 either) and finished setup. This
gave me my spell checker and my tool bar. To start your tool bar go to start,
all programs, ms office, and you should see ms office short cut ba, click
this and your bar should appear. This worked for me, I hope it works for you.
Remember to deselect everthing in custom setup
