Spell Checker not finding spelling errors

Hi,
I'm running Word 2003 on Windows 2000. Spelling tab in Options is set to 'Check spelling as you type' but spelling errors are not being found. I can find custom.dic but where is the main English (UK) dictionary? I would like to confirm it is still there as the first stage in solving this problem.

Select the text that is not being checked and make sure that the language is
set correctly (Tools | Language | Set Language) and that "Do not check
spelling and grammar" is not checked. Also, make sure the English (UK) is
selected as the language in Control Panel | Regional Options | Input
Locales.

Thanks Suzanne that solved the problem, the pesky tick box which I had
forgotten was there which said 'Do not check spelling or grammar' was set.
