spell checker problem affected Juno?

Friend had Best Buy reinstall Word to correct spell check in Wood 2003 in
Windows XP. Now when he goes to use Juno, they give error msg that Microsoft
Windows does not have any modems listed for this computer. Click help for
advice on making Windows recognize your modem. Could there be any connection
between the two events?
