Spell Checking In Excel

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Hi All

Can you please help, when i try spell check within excel i have the following message appear

The word could not be added to the custom spelling dictionary the word contains incorrect characters.

please note i check spelling by actioning the following >tools>spelling..>

Then the above message appears.

Please help me

I am having exactly the problem but no-one seems to have an answer!!!

Having just posted the above I have actually managed to resolve the issue!!
I realised that spelling was not working in Word either and I had (foolishly!) been into the dictionary settings in Word and set it to use English (UK) with the custom dictionary - I reset this back to none and all is back to normal.
Hope this might help someone in the future.

You've apparently replied to an old message, that is no longer on the
