Spellcheck Problem

I installed Microsoft WORD2000 on a new machine last summer and since then,
the spellcheck has not worked. I get the "Word cannot find the spelling file
MSSpell3.dll or mssp232.dll for English (U.S.)." message.

I have read several of the supposeable "solutions" on these forums already
and I tried the one that "garfield-n-odie" has posted on just about every
question, but it did not work for me. The problem still remains. I have
tried downloading and installing the individual files, but I still cannot get
Spellcheck to work correctly.

The message will only come up once and then I have to restart Word to get it
to come up again. After the first error message, it just automatically goes
to "The spell check is complete" but no errors are found even though I
purposefully have words misspelled.

I write a LOT of stuff so I've been really hurting with no spellcheck. I
have had to rely on other plaes for my spellcheck but that is unreasonable
because Word is supposed to work.

So is the only message you get 'The Spell Check is Complete or do you get an
error message. If it is only the former, then the language setting of your
text is set to No Proofing.

SelectAll (Ctrl+A) and go to Tools, Language, Set Language: make sure that
the correct language (YOUR language) is checked and that the 'Detect
Language Automatically' and the 'Do not check Language' boxes are UNchecked.
Then click on the DEFAULT button.

When you close Word, make sure that you say YES to saving changes to the
global template.
