spellchecker and custom dictionary

I use a custom medical dictionary (SEMD). Not sure why, but my spellchecker
quit using the Cust Dic in my Word doc. I reset the Cust Dict and it works
until I start modifying the document. Then it stops working and all the
medical terms are red underlined again. Anyone know why this is happening or
how I can solve this problem? (I am using Word 2003 which was an upgrade in
the last 6 months)

Word 2003 certainly lets you work with multiple custom dictionaries. Been a
while since I looked at a 2003 interface, so I may not remember 100% correctly,
but I think you go through Tools/Options/Spelling and Grammar. There you'll
find a button for "Custom Dictionaries". And in that dialog box you can "add"
dictionaries to the list. I think it would be better you do that, than try to
replace your custom dictionary with another one.

You may also want to check whether you can assign this special custom
dictionary to have no particular language. Then, if for some reason your
language formatting changes in a document, that custom dictionary will remain
available.
