spelling error underline

I've got a word doc that is protected and has a number of form fields for
users to complete. When you type in the form fields and make a spelling
mistake it doesn't underline the word in red to highligh an error, anyone
know how i can make it do this. i've checked the
Options.CheckSpellingAsYouType property and it's set to true.
