Split work of creating tasks and assigning resources

We want to have projects schedules and tasks created by a project
manager. This person would assign generic resources to the tasks. Then
a resorce manager (different person) would reassign the task to a live
resource. If the schedules change or other tasks are added this would
be done again by the project manager and then later reassigned by the
resource manager.

I assume this should be possible. If so, is there any security changes
required? Can two people change a schedule? Who does the updates when
tasks assignments are updated by resources? Anyone doing it this way?
Any problems?

Yes, this is possible. First of all, you would need to provide each
resource manager with a licensed copy of Microsoft Project Professional.
You would also need to add each resource manager to the Project Managers
group, and open up Project Server security to allow all members of the
Project Managers group to see all projects. Or you could alternately create
a new Category and Group just for your resource managers to allow them to
open and save all projects in the system. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale that helps. What about when a resources sends updates on a
task? Who
will get the update, the project manager that created the task or the
resorce manager that assigned the resource to the task?

Task updates are always sent to the person who publishes the resource
assignments initially using Collaborate - Publish - New and Changed
Assignments, or Collaborate - Publish - All Information. It has nothing to
do with who created the task or who assigned the resource. Hope this helps.
