spliting table columns across two pages

Roy

I have a wide table that I am publishing in a book. I
would like to spilt the table vertically so that columns 1-
5 are on the left hand page and columns 6-10 are on the
right hand page.

How do I do that other than breaking the table into page
size pieces?

There isn't really any built-in way to do this aside from breaking it. You
might, however, experiment with putting the entire table on both pages
(spilling into left or right margin) and formatting half as Hidden or
putting it into a text box just large enough for half. It's possible you
could even get clever with a bookmark and cross-reference to make sure that
the tables were the same, but I suspect this might confuse the alignment
issue.

Other approaches are to rotate the table (putting it in a landscape
section), to swap rows and columns to make it fit better, to redesign the
table to contain less information (dividing it over two or more tables), or
any other technique that might be appropriate for breaking it up.
