I have a weird problem with the back end suddenly locking. It seems like one
user suddenly has exclusive access to the data. But none of the users know
how to open in exclusive mode.
We have a multi-user environment (Windows Server 2003) where everyone is
using Terminal Services. The back end resides on the server and each user
has their own TS Profile with a copy of the FE on their desktop. The FE has
an inactive shutdown module set at 15 minutes. We have schedule tasks
running every 15 minutes checking for incoming EDI transactions and uploading
if there are any. This business runs 24/6.
This system has been running smoothly for several years. It is only
recently that we have experienced a rash of sudden lock-outs. Our IT is
looking into possible problems caused by Anti-virus or backups but there
doesn't seem to be anything in Events.
This is not a folder permissions issue as this problem is intermittent. No
one user is consistently the problem.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks - Ali
