Spostare un web

N

N! Xau

Ciao a tutti,

Prego.

I am sorry guys, I didn't see I was posting here.... I clicked the wrong
one, thinking to post on microsoft.public.it.office.frontpage

Well, Steve, I don't know if you used Google to translate, but I really
didn't get a word.
So, in english, I just need to move my web folder, with all its files, into
another position on my HD. Note, the new position IS NOT a subdirectory of
the current web folder.

How to do that (if there's a way...)

thanks

I tried translating Steve's response in AltaVista - I got some of it, but
there were LOTS of words that just flew by me. I also thought it was an
admirable job, tho. *grins*

"dispositivo di piegatura" means *folding device*

I really don't know how he got it <G>

It's like when you go to a French restaurant and try to impress your date by
speaking French - then the waiter answers in English. Uk and USA have one
thing i n common - we shouldn't even try to speak other languages, let them
learn ours ;-)

The same English guy who went into a restaurant in Rome and tried to order
his dinner - the waiter doesn't understand him and says
Oh, you're a foreigner sir
guy says I'm not a foreigner i'm bloody English

Just publish it.
You can publish from one location to another on the same machine, whether it's simply another
folder, or another drive. With or without IIS.

Not exactly.
It's really hard when you use Google's translator....

Again, it seems I can't move my files from *inside* FP, cause the new
location is not a subfolder of my web's current position.

So I need to copy & paste the whole web in Windows, and at the next run, FP
will ask me to upload all files again and this is what I want to avoid.

BTW, the remote server is a Linux.

Just to be sure my question is clear, I don't want to change the web remote
location on the server, I want to change the local folder of my files on my
pc, without having to re-upload all files again.

Why do you guys use top-quoting?

cheers

Using windows, create a new folder at the location that you want to move the web to. For example
C:\foldername

Open FrontPage, use File > Open Web and browse to c:\foldername, right click it and select Convert
To Web.
When FP is done close the new web C:\foldername.
Open your disk based web at it's current location and then select file Publish web, and set the
location to your new web at C:\foldername.
