Spreadsheet Component with XML and Lists

I'm new to this aspect of excel, namely the OWC11. A couple questions in
using the Spreadsheet Component (Office 2003) with XML:

1. Is creating a List pre-requisite?

2. Must I build the Lists and associated XML Map with code - is that the
only way to do both? Any tools available for building these, such as XML
TOOLBOX with non-web based Excel?

3. Where do I load the XSD file and Style Sheet, in the same folder on the
Web server. I assume I can build in whatever validations I want into the XSD.

4. Is there potential for Microsoft to use this technology allow Developers
to provide a spreadsheet service analagous to Google's spreadsheet on the web?

No. What is a list by the way?

See question 1.

These aren't related to the OWC. The OWC reads XML, it doesn't care about
XSD.

4. Is there potential for Microsoft to use this technology allow Developers
to provide a spreadsheet service analagous to Google's spreadsheet on the
web?

It's already there, Excel Services.
