spreadsheet does not open properly

This problem is happening on my work computer as well as my home computer. When I click on an excel file to open, excel opens but the area where the spreadsheet should appear is blank. I can see the desktop where the spreadsheet should be. I have tried opening files from their individual icons, opening excel first then use file/open and choose the file. I get the same results. Help! This is wasting so much of my work time.

Could it be just off the visible screen.

Try opening your file, then File|Print Preview.

If it shows up, try window|Arrange|Tiled and resize.

I have this problem too, actually a number of people in
my office have this issue. I hope we can get a real
answer, but here is a work around that I found that works.

The first thing I now do is confirm that I can see it in
print preview. If so I select Full Screen under View. I
am then able to see the worksheet and make my
modifications. The work sheet tabs at the bottom of the
screen are partially hidden, but I can navigate around
that. I then save the document. After I save it, I exit
excel and go back into excel and open up something that I
know is clean. When I subsequently go back in and look at
the previously blank after I have saved my updates, I can
see everything just fine.
