i do not have excel on my p.c, how can i open e-mails
which have been sent to me in ecxel spreadsheet format?

You can download an Excel viewer from Microsoft:

Either download and sue the free Excel viewer that will allow you to view and print, but not Edit
Excel files:-

or download something like OpenOffice, a free Office suite (60MB download) available from
www.openoffice.org
