SQL 2005 and Access 2003 ADP

We can add records through SQL 2005 but when linked into Access 2003 ADP app
i don't see the add new record option. Can't add recs through ADP but you
can through SQL Server side? Any ideas why?

Possible causes: the inserts have been disabled in the properties of the
form; missing primary key for one of the table, permission problem for the
account used with ADP, etc.

Thanks for the fast response on this. I've looked out on this forum and it
looks as if this is a known problem out there. I will look into the
permissions. Anymore advice would be very helpful

Perhaps the table does not have a Primary Key.

Yes, I know that SSMS will let you add records without a PK but you've
got to have a PK to edit the records in ADP.

I can only think of one situation where a table wouldnt' have a PK;
and that is a 'staging table'.

Thus; In order to manually insert a record into a staging table in
ADP; you'd have to add a PK; most likely an integer identity.

are you talking about adding records? or editing tables?

Yes; Microsoft did promise us a patch for Access 2003 / SQL 2005.. but
as usual they didn't carry through.

You should use Access 2003 with SQL 2000.
Or Access 2007 with SQL 2005.

both environments work great for real SQL Dev in an Access
environment.
