Hi
Whenever I try to download a template or try to create a database from a
local template, I get the message "(SQL-DMO) SQL Distribution management
Objects must be enabled on the machine running office access" I'm then unable
to proceed any further.
Can anyone help please?

This is not a standard problem so I guess your machine is not "fresh"
and has had some customisation. I assume you are trying to use .ADP
(Access Data Projects) not .MDB (?)

In any case, when you create an Access front end to SQL Server back
end, it is probable that the connections and further creation of SQL
Server objects (tables, views, stored procedures) will be carried
"behind the scenes" using SQL DMO - a programming library that I
expect should be on a properly functioning machine. If you are seeing
error messages, this library may not be correctly installed (as part
of Access installation) or disabled.

Hi Ananda.
I'm using Access 2007. I haven't actually used it very much i.e. haven't
really created any front end or backends? So i'm not aware of any
customisation on my part.
How can I check if the library is correctly installed or how can I check if
it's disabled or not?
Thank you

I wasn't referring so much to your activities with Access but whether
Access 2007 had been properly installed on a fairly healthy Windows
PC.

I don't give myself much time for resolving Office installation issues
- the Suite is quite large and puts .dlls all over the place and sets
Windows registry -

I usually try a Repair = Office Button > Resources > run Microsoft
Office Diagnostics
and if that does not work, time to start the machine from scratch or
recover from a saved image of the hard disk.

I tried to do a repair but no joy, so bit the bullet and restored from a
previous disk image. Voila! it works fine again.
Still wish I had found out what the problem was though !
Did a huge search on the internet and it seems that although a small amout
of people have had the same problem, no one knows what the cause is.
Never mind, thanks for the help Ananda.
