I have a Win2K server configured with SQL Server 2k. I've been trying to
get the SQL Mail to work with an SMTP server. I installed Outlook 2002 SP3.
I have a single profile created with a single POP account. I use Outlook's
"Test Account" facility to test my account settings and everything works
properly.
I sit at the console and start up Outlook. I click "New Message", and
proceed to create and send an email to another account. This works fine.
Then, using SQL Enterprise Manager, I go into the SQL Server Agent, select
an operator, and click the "Test" button to send a test message. SQL Server
Agent report the email was sent. I go back to Outlook and I see an error
message in the Inbox saying "No transport provider was available for
delivery to this recipient". I've read several posts on this issue and have
read a couple MS KB articles, but none of the suggestions seem to help.
In the sent items folder, I notice that the "From" address for this email is
blank, while emails I created manually using this Outlook profile have the
email account name I created for this profile. So I suspect the issue is
Outlook isn't using the email account to send the message, and therefore
does not know how to send it.
1) Is this possible?
2) If so, any ideas on how to resolve it? Is this an Outlook configuration
or SQL Mail configuration issue?
Any help would be appreciated.
