SQL problem

In the office running over the intranet MSP2003 can access the project files
ok. The account for Enterprise is using the direct ip address, eg
123.45.6.78/projectserver even in the office.

If I try to access the projects from outside the intranet ie at home over
cable modem the SQL refuses access. You have an object come up and ask for
server and password.

Any thoughts.

No way, no doubt your IT folks have wisely closed port 1433 to the internet.
You can ask them to open it (they won't) or you can use a VPN solution, or,
better still, Terminal Services or Citrix.
