SQL-Server Endpoints and browser-based Infopath forms

Hi,

Back in December 2006, in the forum post "Using SQL Server 2005 Web Services
with InfoPath" the author wrote that SQL 2005 endpoints were not supported
for browser-based forms, but said "watch this space" for further details or
workarounds.

What is the current situation here?

I have a project where I need to build browser-based forms for enquiries
into a call centre. Part of the requirement is that the user enters their
customer code onto the form, in order to pull up their name, address and
contact details. These then need to be stored with the rest of the data on
the form, ready to initiate a workflow.

The customer details are in a multi-thousand row SQL-Server 2005 table, and
can be accessed via an endpoint webservice, but I cannot get the connection
to work when the forms are browser-based (though everything works fine in
Infopath design/preview mode). Have I hit a design limitation which there is
no way around - as a reading of that December 2006 article may suggest - or
is there a way around this now?

Many thanks
