SR 1 Office 2000 Prem

Using XP Home and Office 2000 Premium.
I reinstalled Office 2000 Premium and want to process the
available SR(s). I have tried updating from the Office
Update site and each time receive an error message and a
txt file which ends with the error msg as follows:

has an invalid size.

Error: The Office 2000 SR-1 Core Update patch is missing
or invalid.
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 setup ended prematurely
because of an error.

The Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 820939 says this is
due to lack of hard drive space. There is 22 Gig free.
I searched back through this newsgroup but do not see a
solution to this problem.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?
