Stacked chart and corresponding labels

I'm working on a series of stacked column charts and ran into a problem when
told that additional data points needed to be added between the column. Keep
in mind - they aren't an actual part of the chart, but rather additional
information about the data points along the y-axis.

For example, I've been plotting dollar sales volume for the month of January
(Jan being on the x-axis, and the volume 'stacked' along the y axis).

Now I'm to add the change in volume from the previous Jan to this Jan, next
to the plotted volume to give more insight into the market for that month.
Is there a quicker way, outside of creating text boxs for each data point, to
do it? I've also tried making a chart, making the borders invisible, but the
problem is that some of the stacks are so small, it's difficult to make the
chart line up with the varying volumes of the stack.

Any advice - I would so appreciate it! Thanks

Hi,

there are a number of free add-in that create data labels from a range of
cells. Check out Rob Bovey's Chart Labeler. You can Google it and then
download it for free. Then you enter the what you want to display in the
text boxes, in a range of cells in the spreadsheet, and these programs will
create data label text boxes for each entry.
