Girish

Hi,

I am using project professional which is integrated with project we access.

I changed the start and end dates of a task in project web access and
submitted the changes to the project owner.
After the project owner has approved the request the changes are not getting
effected in project professional

only the end date is changed but the start date is not changed

Please let me know if there is some setting which ineed to change

Thanks in advacn

When a resource alters the start date in PWA, this is recalculated as a split
task. The initial start date remains the same and all outstanding effort is
moved to date specificied by the resource is PWA.
PM's must manually adjust the start date if required as this is not
influenced by the resources who influence the actual start date.

Hi Girish,

If you are the project owner, offcourse you can use Project
Professional instead of PWA to change the dates of the project.

Also you are saying, you are changing the one of the task dates in
PWA. Your project have only one task? If not, how can we assume by
changing the single task start & end dates will change the entire
project start and end dates?

In my opinion, you should change the required dates (project or task)
in project professional 2007 and publish the project plan. It will
take care of those updates in PWA.

Thanks

Hi Girish,

I mean you are only one resource in project? Changing your task dates
may not change the entire project start and end dates.

Please use Project Professional and update the dates and publish
project plan.

Thanks

Hi Chak,

Thanks for the reply

no i am not talking about the change in the project start and end dates.

My only concern is when i change the task start and end dates in PWA and
submit the changes. The start and end dates are not getting changed in
project professional after the project owner(in this case myself) has
approved the changes.

But if i do the same changes to the start and end dates of the taskin
project professional and publish the project then i can see the changes in
PWA.

Yes i can use the project professional to do the changes but i want to know
whether we can do the same using PWA or not.

Thanks in Advance!!

Hi Girish,

Offcourse, you can get the task updates from PWA and by approving, you
will see those updated dates in MS Project Professional.

By any chance, task start date is earlier than the project start
date? May be your task might be having some date constraint. It seems
to be you are in one of this scenario. If so, please do the following:

1) Open project in Project Professional

2) Verify Project Start Date: On Project menu -> Project Information

Look for Start Date and Finish Date

3) Verify Task Information:

Double click on your task in Gantt chart to view Task Information

On Task information window, click on Advanced tab -> Do you see any
Constraint date here?;

Also change the Constraint type as "As Soon As Possible"

I hope this solve your issue.

Thanks

Hi Chak,

I have already tried this options but still it is not working.

Is this something to do with the Enterprise templates..but i also created a
project without the enterprise template and facing the same issues

or is there any setting using which i can disable the start and end dates of
the tasks in PWA so that the team members cannot change it which will reduce
the confusion.

Thanks,
Girish
