Start Inking button missing from Review ribbon in Word 2007

I'm using Office 2007 Professional Plus on a 2GoPC tablet (XP Home, Intel
Atom). My problem is that I have no "Start Inking" button on the Review
ribbon in Word. This happens no matter what the document format. Start
Inking does appear in the dropdown list of commands for the Quick Access
toolbar, but is grayed out if I move it to the toolbar itself. The stylus
works fine for other functions, including the handwriting recognition box.

Last year, a poster in another thread thought that a very similar problem
was related to Word's not "perceiving" that there's an inking device. I've
reinstalled the driver, but to no avail. I haven't tried reinstalling Office
yet.

I'm stumped as to why this has happened, and was wondering if anyone had any
ideas. I'm guessing it's a software issue somewhere (duh), but otherwise I'm
at a loss. This feature was pretty much the only reason for buying this
otherwise good machine. Any help or suggestions would be immensely
appreciated.

OK, I finally located the problem, thanks to Google search and cnet.com. This
feature is available only with XP Tablet or Vista. I would assume it's also
available in all versions of Windows 7, but I don't know as of yet. Does
anyone have any info about that?

Hi, I'm also having this same issue and upgrading to Windows 7 is an option,
but I'd like to know that this would definitely work before going to the
trouble of doing it. I can't find anything on the net that specifies
requirements for inking in office 2007. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Thanks.
