I want to start my page numbering on page 5. I have tried using "page break"
and it adds another page but, still no results. Any help wil be appreciated.
I am using Office 2007. Thanks

Assuming that you are talking about Word, the totally nonintuitive way to do
it is this:

On the Insert ribbon, click “Page Number†in the “Header & Footer†area,
click “Format Page Numbers,†click “Start at,†type “5,†and then click OK.

Just to make it a little more clear, the two prior replies are for
two different actions. Your question was not clear if you wanted to
have the first page start with 5 or if you wanted to start numbering
over on page five

Like

1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 ..
or
5 6 7 8 910 11 ...

Right, now I realize that I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do. Have
the page number on the first page show up as "5?" Don't show any page numbers
on the first four pages, and then start with Page 1? Use little roman
numerals for the first four page numbers and then start with Page 1 after
that? Something else?

You can do it all by creating sections and inserting a footer (and/or
header) for each section. Once you do that, if you go into the footer
(assuming that you want the page number in the footer), a Design ribbon for
"Header & Footer Tools" will magically appear. You can click "Page Number" on
this ribbon to do different things with the page numbering for that section.
However, to change the starting page number for a section, you have to go
back to the Insert ribbon like I mentioned before.

To create sections:
On the Page Layout ribbon, in the "Page Setup" area, click "Insert Page and
Section Breaks" (icon in the top-right corner).

Actually, it would be easier to give step-by-step instructions if exactly
what you wanted to do was clearer.

That one is easy. Just start a new section (maybe call it" body"
and the numbers should start over. You can also choose if you want
page numbers appear or not for the cover page, table of contents etc.

I will not try to give you specific instructions. In fact the
instructions I did give may be incorrect with 2007. I do not have
2007. I am using an earlier version. I would guess 2007 is very
similar, but I would bet there are some differences.

Good Luck.

You might try the built in help file and look for "section", "chapter"
and "number"
