Starting MSIE from Vision web page

D

Don O'Shaughnessy

Hello all;

I have a vision drawing exported as a web page, and it displays very nicely
with the pan & zoom function in MSIE, as promised :)

The problem is some of my users are accessing the web from Lotus Notes. They
can see the drawing, but the pan & zoom page is only supported by MSIE.

My question is this: does anyone know how to programmatically start MSIE in
a way that can be incorporated in a URL? I'd like to avoid making a page of
instructions for them to follow, and even if I do that some of them won't
follow them anyway *sigh*

Hopefully,

Drat this editor!

VISIO - the word is Visio. The editor insists on 'helping' by completing the
word.

*sigh again*

as a test I ,

a.) saved drawing as html
b.) put it in my MSIE favorites (after verifying pan and zoom)
c.) opened Lotus Notes
d.) opened IE favorites / document in Notes
panned and zoomed.....

I'm at v2003-Pro, MSIE 6.02900 SP2, Notes 6.02 (configured for "Notes with
IE" in location preferences)

Not being a Notes user I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here. Is the
location preferences something the Notes user would have to configure
themselves? I can see how you go about it and it makes perfect sense,
but I fear the users I'm aiming at may not be up to it.

I'm going to try to get a trial version of Notes to take a look at and
see if I can make a simple enough explanation of what they need to do.
A clickable URL would be my preference, but maybe it's not achievable.

Thanks for the info.
