which shortcut are you using? You need to use a normal shortcut not the one
on the start menu (winxp/ol2003) or desktop.
right click on the one in the quicklaunch and choose properties - add the
switch to the command line.
also, since you presumably won't need to use that switch every time, go to
start menu run and type outlook.exe /cleanviews (or any other switch) and
when you need it, it should be listed in the run dropdown.
