Starting up the Newsgroup Reader

Hi all,

I have been trying to get the Newsgroup Reader to display (I have Outlook
2003), but I can't even see it in my list of items. I followed the
instructions, and it's not under my Go menu, and I can't see it under my list
of Commands under the Go toolbar either (I believe I am looking for an item
called News).

So what are my options? Is this a bug? Is there a shortcut that I can use to
try and force it to display? I have briefly seen it, but when I tried to drag
it over to the toolbar Outlook crashed on me and that was the last time I saw
it anywhere. Or do I have to uninstall/reinstall it :-(

Thanks in advance,

Cecile

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You should be using Outlook Express for Newsgroups, not Outlook!

can't see it under my
list looking for an
item shortcut that I can use
to but when I tried to
drag was the last time I
saw

Because Outlook is not a news reader and there is no need to make it one.

What JCO doesn't seem to realize if that no one can use Outlook to read
newsgroups without using s third-party add-in or using Exchange to serve the
groups. The "Microsoft Outlook Newsreader" is just Outlook Express with the
mail functions disabled. One can also tell Outloko to use Forte Agent,
Xnews, or other newsreaders, too.
