Startup error

Following a MS upgrade all programs in Office began exhibiting strange
behavior. When attempting to start the programs from their icons, Excel,
Word and PPT all showed the locating files window, followed by preparing to
install window followed by an error message: Microsoft Office Word 12.0, an
error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please
run setup and select repair to restore this application. When I click OK the
application opens and runs fine. When I go to Control Panel and ADD Remove
programs and click on Office Professional 2007 Change, nothing happens. I
try to uninstall and reinstall and I get a message: Microsoft Office
Professional 2007 uninstall did not complete succesfully. I click on close
and get the reboot message. After the reboot, the only hing that is changed
is that the program icons are gone from the Desktop. The programs still work
from the start menu. I have tried reinstalling Office from the disc and I
get a message: Setup did not complete succesfully. We are sorry for the
inconvenience. Yeah, well so am I!

So I continue to send error reports. Autorun generates the error, opening
the disc and starting setup manually produces the error. Oh, did I mention
that this is on top of the failure of Outlook, or OC, even tho I installed
the Beta version. HELP!!!

This is not a beta or trial version of Office, it was an upgrade from Office
2003 that had been running fine for almost two years.

I am experiencing a similar problem with Office 12 installed over Office
2003. To try to fix it I've tried uninstalling, repairing or modifying the
Office installation. All options rseult in "Microsoft Office
repair/installation/uninstal did not complete successfully" leaving the
installation in the same corrupt state.
