startup files

In my Excel 2003, I have shortcuts to files "A" and "B" in my "\XLSTART\"
folder, because I want A and B to open when I start Excel. However, file
"C" also opens, which I don't want. I can't find anywhere where I tell Excel
to open file C. Any ideas on how to stop file C from opening?
Thanks, CMA

does A or B or any other file in your xlstart directory have a reference to
file C.

Check Tools/Options/General - do you have a folder designated as an
alternate startup location?

Jim, In Tools/Options/General/, I do have a folder, but no file referred
to. But I don't see any "alternate startup" location in the General dialog.

Tom,
You indirectly solved the problem by making me realize that I had
two XLSTART folders.
Thanks, CMA

the location of the startup folders is dependent on the version of excel.
As you say, there are multiple startup folders in versions later than xl97.
