Startup Task Pane problem

In Word 2003 Tools>Options>View, I have unchecked the Startup Task Pane
option yet the task pane always appears when I start Word. Is there another
way to stop this happening?

By the way... it might've been fixed by an update. As I recall, I had the
same "paneful" problem when I first installed Word 2003, but now, changing
the setting in Tools - Options - View now does indeed make it go away (or
reappear) as advertised.
