Statistical functions commonly used in scientific circles

M

Manish

There a bunch of statistical functions commonly used in scientific circles
especially biomedical circles that do not find a place in excel. the
following a is a short list:

Mann Whitney non-parametric test/U-test
Standard error of mean
odds ratio
relative risk

The graphing capabilities of excel have not evolved since office 97. Adding
new shapes for fancy looking 3D charts doesnot help the end user in the
scientific community. Graph types such as grouped scatter plots (where
individual data points in eeach group are plotted) along with mean standard
error or standard deviation and/or percentile have never appeared.

Excel has concentrated on the buisness community but completely ignored the
scientific and student communities. As a consequence researchers are forced
to buy third party addins or stand alone softwares.
