STDEDU.MSI not on my CD, needed for XP's sp-3 Update

I originally purchased the Office XP for Students and Teachers and was trying
to get the update, sp-3 for it. It downloaded fine, but when installing it
asks for a file named: STDEDU.MSI. This file is definitely not on the CD, and
the download program keeps asking me to insert the CD and, since the file
isn't there, the installation quits.

Download and install it directly. Download the "full file" titled:
OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fulefile-enu.exe (58925 KB).

Unfortunately the full download has the same problem that the update has. I
have downloaded the full installation several times and have come across this
same problem everytime. I have tried to find the file on the original disks
and via the internet and the file does not seem to exist, except in
Microsoft's twisted imagination it seems.

Forgive my ranting there at the end.

Andrew

I'm following all the suggestions on this board. None is working. I
have office xp standard edition. It has 3 CDs. When I was trying to
export my contacts list to a file, the system said I didn't have the
right file (stdedu.msi). The instructions don't tell you which CD to
find the appropriate file, so I tried them all. Nada. I went to the
MS site and installed sp3, which was the suggestion. Nada. I think I
could have copied all the details from every contact by hand and typed
them into my new Outlook in less time!

Is this the Office Standard for Students and Teachers edition that you have the disks for?

I have encountered the same frustrating problem but I got lucky at th
end and was able to locate STDEDU.MSI file in my Microsoft Office X
2002 installation CD. Once I located and popped that CD in, th
installation continued and gone to completion
