Step by step guide to making a custom template

S

Steve Easton

I read this and two thoughts pop into my feeble brain.
A. You're bored.
B. You're serious

If A. applies, have another Fosters.
If B. applies there isn't enough Fosters in Australia
to accomplish what you need to do in the time allowed.
However, post back and someone will try to help.

Hi
Next week I am running a web design course teaching Australian farmers
how to make a web site using frontpage.
I use a mac and I've never used frontpage....so I have a bit of
learning to do.

I want to show the farmers how to make their own custom template and
navigation bar. I was wondering if some of the forum users could
peruse my step by step list below and tell me if I'm on the right
track?

1) make a page
2) make template tables eg top banner table and table with two columns
for navigation bar and text.
3) set up navigation bar
4) set up shared borders
5)save as template

Thanks for any help

Mark

Well, the bottom line is, there is no more FP for MAC, and the original
oooold version is no longer supported.

So, is this a moot point?

Im am serious.....and if I'm to work this one out, there will be no tim
for any fosters (although I must say Victoria Bitter is the real Aussi
beer of choice)

I was originally going to be running a course using an online we
design software called site-o-matic. It has pre designed templates. O
seeing the templates, the farmers decided another approach was needed.

Enter frontpage. I do have access to a pc with frontpage. It's jus
I've never used it before (I use dreamweaver for web design)
I thought all WYSIWYG programs would be similar, so running the cours
would be a breeze. But there are some differences I need to sort out.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
What I mainly need to know is the BEST way to go about making a custo
template and adding it to each page on a site

You are on the right course for older versions of FP

Depends on the version of FP you have
FP2003 has Dynamic Web Templates which can be applied to all pages
Try the FP courses at
http://office.microsoft.com/trainin...ID=CR061832701033&CTT=4&Origin=ES790000501033

Prior versions are limited to shared borders, themes and template pages

Try the FP tutorial from
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/FPT2002.aspx
or
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/FPTutor.aspx
