still having problems with menu

M

molly

I know I have come to this discussion group about the same problem, but this
one is a little bit different.

I created my sub-menus for each department. it has been working all this
time, but today I decided to check my sub-menus to make sure they're
working----NOT.

Why am I losing the behavior? I go to the main menu, mouseover to get the
sub-menu to open up, and it isn't working. I don't want to re-create this
behavior, and I shouldn't have to as I followed the instructions in the FP
book to the "T". Any help will be welcome. Thank you

I will upload it. It is http://www.nooksack-tribe.org/Administration2.htm.
It looks like it semi-works "NOW" when uploaded to the server, but in the
design mode it wasn't showing the "sub-menus". Can you please take a look at
it, and tell me why the background of the button is showing for example the
"x Home", and how to get rid of that, and if you would see any forseen
problems once I upload my entire website to the world. You will notice some
of the links will go to its webpage it is linked too. These webpages are
old. My new web-pages will look like the one that you will be viewing.
Again, I much appreciate you helping me out. I have been working on this for
a while, and every time I think everything will work as suppose to, menu,
sub-menus.....the behavior stops working, or everything tied to the mainmenu
itself will stop working. You don't know how many times I have been
re-creating this menu & its subs. The last time I placed a message in here,
I was told to create my menus/sub menus using one of the websites: lacken(I
think that is what its name was) , and did every menu and submenu. When it
came time to place it in my table---the menu was hiding under my table. I
added the problem to the Discussion group...was told to upload the
example.......I never did get a reply back therefore I had to go back and
create EVERYTHING again in FP. So far it is working except what I am showing
you here. I will wait for your reply.

I will watch for your reply...again many thanks

You are missing the images for you alternate states of the mouse overs
- make sure all the image are being preloaded and you have uploaded all the IB button images

PS
remove all spaces and punctuation from all file names

Stefan:

1. Could you please explain what you mean by "images" for your alternate
states
of the mouseover. I have never heard of the phase, and I am not sure
how to
proceed.

2. you say:
make sure all the image are being preloaded and you have uploaded all
the IB
button images

3. you say:
remove all spaces and punctuation from all file names

sorry to sound so daft, but could you please explain in a little bit more
detail so that I know what I am suppose to do. Thank you.

You are using IB (Interactive Buttons)
In addition to the normal image An IB can have 2 states: hover and pressed (for use in mouseovers) and the option to preload those
state images
- all options selected in the Image tab of the IB dialog

So for your home page image/link it generates

<img border="0" id="img1" src="button436.jpg" height="27" width="135" alt="Home" fp-style="fp-btn: Border Left 7; fp-font: Comic
Sans MS; fp-font-style: Italic; fp-font-size: 11; fp-font-color-hover: #808000; fp-justify-horiz: 0" fp-title="Home"
onmouseover="FP_swapImg(1,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button398.jpg')" onmouseout="FP_swapImg(0,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button436.jpg')"
onmousedown="FP_swapImg(1,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button399.jpg')" onmouseup="FP_swapImg(0,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button398.jpg')">

Where
Normal State image is: button436.jpg
Hover state image is: button398.jpg
Pressed state image is: button399.jpg

When you saved those embedded images from the IB dialog you apparently have not uploaded all 3 to your site

Stefan:

Thank you! for the detailed explanation. I went back into each interactive
button to make sure all those options were checked, and they were. I have
never worked with mouseovers before, so I didn't know about the other two
buttons. I just took it for granted that it was only one button. I will go
back and look for the other IB, and upload the page, and see if it corrects.
Again, thank u for your help. If something else comes up, I will be back.
Have a nice day!
