stop a message when it's in the process of "sending"?

I have an email with a 244MB attachment that's been trying to send for a
couple weeks now. HOW DO I DELETE IT??? Help please

File - Work Offline.
Wait 5 minutes.
Try to delete.
If it fails, File - Exit.
Wait 5 minutes.
Restart Outlook.
Try to delete.
If it fails, what version of Outlook?

Hi F. H. - the missing steps in your directions:

File->Work Offline
CLOSE OUTLOOK (ensure there is no outlook.exe running in task manager)
Open Outlook and delete from Outbox.
File->Uncheck Work Offline.
Close and reopen Outlook.
