stop autocorrect?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel

I cannot stop Word 2004 from capitalising the first word in a "sentence" (actually in a table, I really don't want capital letters all over the place). I have unchecked everything in autocorrect and it still does it. Please please help me.
