stop automatic deletion of messages during preview

when i click on an email sometimes it is deleted before i get to read it.
Tell me how to stop this behavior.

You are probably set to use a "Filtered View", and close to something like
"Unread Messages in this folder". Select the VIEW -> ARRANGE BY ->
CURRENT VIEW. Click on MESSAGES.

And you could also change the preview pane settings so emails are not marked
as "read" when you view them in the pane. Tools | OPtions | Other |
Advanced Options | Reading Pane | select a setting there.
