Stopping the Fx Window from dropping down when clicking in a cell

Is there a way to keep the Fx window from dropping down when I click on a
cell? It drives me crazy because it blocks headings!!!! I spend a lot of
time clicking in and out of cells to see what I'm doing.

That is not the Fx window, it is the contents of the Formula bar.

I assume you mean when you have a lot of text in the formula bar.

Resize the Window so you're not working in a maximized window.

Alternative..........................

A kludgy work-around............

Window>New Window>Arrange>Horizontal.

Arrange top window so's it covers 4 or 5 rows.

Work in the bottom window. Your long formulas will drop down into the top
window when you select a cell in lower window.

You can't really make the formula bar show less than what's inside the
selected cell. However, if you don't need the formula bar at all, you can
hide it by going to View --> Formula Bar. That will hide both the formula
bar and the name box. Hopefully you won't be needing both.
