Strange cursor behaviour in Excel

When opening one of my Office X workbooks in 2008 I don't get the cross
shaped mouse cursor but one that looks like a box with triangles in two
corners. It doesn't allow selecting cells and behaves generally weird...
How to get back to normal?

Thanks!!

I would say "Remove the graphics object you're pointing at".

That sounds like the graphics cursor you are describing.

Hope this helps

Nope, I don't think so... The 'Move Objects' pointer looks like a black
arrowhead with 4 tiny directional arrows at its tip :) The pointer
described is the one you get when pointing to the lower right corner of a
data range which has the List Manager applied to it, used for resizing the
list range. I don't recall ever having seen it used for any other purpose.

If this is appearing throughout the sheet I'm betting that our poster is
possibly looking at a corrupt workbook/worksheet, is in need of updates, or
perhaps has a damaged .plist file.

Yes: That's a better fit for the description, isn't it.

I agree: it's cactus, because that cursor should appear only at the
bottom-right corner of the list.

Cheers
