Strange Layout in "Slide View"

I created a presentation using Powerpoint 97. I then imported some slides
from another presentation (created with Powerpoint 2000) using cut and
paste.

When I look at my presentation now using Slide View, some of the imported
slides are "offset" ie. they're pushed over to the left instead of centered.
My Powerpoint window is maximized.

When I look at the slides as a slide show, there is no problem. Why are my
imported slides not centered in Slide View?

There is probably an object that has been dragged off the slide to the right
side. Reduce the zoom factor to about 33% and then press the tab key
repeatedly. Each press of the tab key will select an object. Watch for
anything in the outskirts. It may be a sound icon, a text box, or a drawing
object. It could also have "no fill" and "no line" and be impossible to see
unless it's selected.
