Strange marks in document

T

Tom Hall

While typing a document in Word 2003 on a dual-core system running 64-bit
Vista Home Premium, the document has suddenly sprouted some markings that
bracket the page.

I have a jpg illustrating this phenomenon, but of course can't post it
here.

My normal document view is Print Layout, which is the only one that these
markings appear in. They are a light grey, same as the header text when
viewed in Print Layout.

At the bottom of the page there are markings that look like these:

___ ___
| |
| |

Scale is not exactly correct; they appear like corners of a perfect square
with half of the square missing.

At the tops of pages, there are an inverse pair of these markings, with the
point of intersection at the lower right for the left sided one and lower
left for the right-sided one.

These markings appear in other documents that I did some time ago and which
have not been modified, so it's probably some kind of global thing I've
turned on by accident. I know that it was a finger-check on my part that
produced this phenomenon, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to
undo it.

I would appreciate it if someone would let me send them the jpg so they
could see exactly what I'm seeing - or suggest a place where I could put
the picture for all to see.

TIA,

Tom
