Strange new XP->98 behavior

R

Roy Lasris

In the olden days (like last week), I had no problem 'reading' a VBA
project composed on in WordXP on a Word97 computer. I could edit it and save
it, with no problems. Now, while the project runs okay in both 97 and XP, I am
getting an error message when I try to read the macros in 97. I get a "Project
Locked/Project is Unviewable" message.

It is not locked. It has never been unviewable before. I want to be able
to view it now. All modules and forms show in list in the Project Explorer
window. It looks like I should be able to edit the project, but when I click on
a module or form in the list, the return message is as above.

I have tried this on 3 Word97 machines, and the same conduct is occuring. I
was able to read everything just fine last week.

I have no problem reading the project on an XP machine. What's happening?

Thanks. Roy

G'day (e-mail address removed) (Roy Lasris),

If the worst comes to the worst, try creating a new 97 template,
export all the modules from Word XP, and re-import them into the 97
template. I'm inclined to suspect document corruption - have you
cleaned your VBA recently? If not, do so.
