Strange Outlook Issue

Over the past few weeks whenever outlook does a send and receive it says
sending 1 of ? when there is nothing to send. It started off as 1 of 4 and
has slowly increased to 1 of 21. I have tried re-creating the profile,
re-installing outlook, but the message remains. It doesnt really cause me an
issue, but is frustrating and confusing as to what is going on here. Any
ideas woudl be greatly appreciated.

You configured Outlook to send read receipts, haven't you? These are
hidden items (you can't see them in your Outbox) and Outlook seems to
have had a long history of not handling them correctly. Turn off
sending of read receipts unless your company demands they be used as
part of their policy.
