Student Office pro installing on new computer.

A colleague of mine has just had to replace his computer due to complete
failure. His new Dell arrived last week and I wish to install his copy of
Office Pro on it that was previously installed on his old one. Since the old
computer is now part of a landfill site and the hard disc erased how do I go
about reactivating the software onto his new machine. Can it only be done by
phoning Microsoft or can I get a new re-activation code on line for him. I
have read the FAQ but can't fully understand what I need to do. Obviously his
children need the Office software as they are still in full time education.

It depends on the version of Office
If OEM the licence died with the old PC
If retail it may activate online otherwise phone.
If upgrade version I trust you still have the qualifying app, if not the
licence died.
