Okay my subject says it all. I have office XP on my computer but have now
aquired Office 2000 Business and would like to know which is the newer
version as I didn't pay attention when they came out and our IT guy is always
trying to dump old software on me.
AND if I can load the extra small business add on to my Office XP ?
Thanks in advance,
MCHammer

XP = 2002

Actually, only the suite was really labeled XP, the individual programs are
labeled 2002. (Open any of them, then Help>About)

And what a stupid name, XP. An OS has the same name. They didn’t foresee the
confusion?

And Windows XP, Office XP is different than Windows 98 Office 98,
Windows 2000, Office 2000? One is "WINDOWS" and the other is "OFFICE",
but I suppose that isn't OBVIOUS enough?

I have always been very vocal about MS's habit of naming dissimilar products
with similar names. Many computer novices don't know the difference between
Office and Windows. Unfortunately a lot of the novices don't want to learn
the correct terminology either. I do what I can to educate my friends and
family but sometimes they just don't care. <sigh>

Was there Office 98 for PCs?

I suppose it was mere excitement to put somebody down! Or to get one
upmanship over another!

No, Office 98 was for Mac's, Outlook 98 was for PC's. And the point
still stands. Windows isn't Office, and Office isn't Windows. I suppose
the obvious STILL has to be stated for some.

I suppose the obvious STILL has to be stated for some.

Not such a bad thing. It's the only chance some people will ever have to
feel holier-than-thou... :)
