how do I set a news reader link to this group? i.e. a hyperlink that fires
up the newsreader and points it to this ng.

I tested it with OE, but I don't know if it will work with other readers.
If you're putting together a how-to page, you may want to spell out the
details as well.

Can anyone with a different news reader confirm this works?

It causes my machine to lock up if OE
is already open.

It works fine in Netscape 7.1

Actually this was on an ME machine with IE/OE 6

Gonna shut down OE and then click the link.

Locks up the machine, pegs the cpu at 100%
and requires Cntrl+Alt+Delete to end the
"Not Responding" process.

I tried the link with Gravity set as default news reader.
Gravity opened, but errorred [sp?]: "This news server has not been set up
in Gravity"

Suppose it does not work with Gravity.

It works in OE using W2K or XP...

"Only if" I remove this news group first.. When I use the link and have this
News group set up in OE it tends to lock up the computer...

That's just odd.

I've got XP and it works just fine.

I guess Chris needs to look for a better answer than the one I've offered.

no I don't. your answer was fine for me.
I didn't experience any problems at all. I'm not looking to make a career
out of the link just "due diligence".
