Style Headache

Hello

I have 75 documents which have a style named ClientStyle -
i need to create a table of contents based on this
client style. However, for some reason the client style
is a character style !! not a paragraph style!! Is there
anyway I can create a TOC based on a character stye or is
there a quick way to change a style from character to
paragraph in 75 documents. The 75 documents are not
linked or attached to their original template.

Thanks very much for your help.

Beck.

Hi Beck

there are two possible approaches to this.

1. Create a new paragraph style that has the appropriate format, then find
each occurrance of ClientStyle and apply the new style. You can then build
the ToC based on the new style.

2. Don't bother creating a new style, but search for each example of the
ClientStyle and insert a TC field. You can then base your ToC on TC fields.

In either case, you want to create a macro that does this on a single file,
and then insert the repebant code into the example code described in this
article, so you can apply the same process to all 75 files once you have the
macro perfected.

I would strongly recommend working on a copy of the files in case you mess
something up.
