Styles in Normal.Email.dotm

I have modified my NormalEmail.dotm to include some numbered styles.
They don't seem to work. When I just double-click on NormalEmail.dotm
they work fine. But when I open a new mail message, the font seems
right but there is no numbering.

Does anybody have a solution for this?
