Subject line remains empty in received e-mail messages

Hi there
In every eMail message I receive, the subject line remains empty.
I use LevelOne WBR-3402B ADSL router with built-in firewall, Norton Internet
Security 2004 including Norton Firewall. Windows Firewall (SP2) ist
deactivated. No matter which firewall I activate or deactivate, whatever
combination, subject line in eMails remains empty (the problem also appears
in Mozilla Thunderbird). The problem also remains when eMail virus checking
in Norton Internet Security is deactivated and also, when Norton Anti Virus
is deactivated totally.
Does anyone have an idea?
