Substiture an old resource with a new one

Hello All,
I am trying to substitute an old resource with a new resource. I tried changing that in Resource Sheet in Project Plan but that doesnt allow me to save and Publish the Project Plan. Moreover I see the resource in Admin view but not in Resource Pool in MS Project.

If you merged accounts then the new resource would take
on the assignments of the old resource.

Hi Kevin,
I tried that but it says that Cannot Merge Enterprise Resource.
Please let me know what is wrong.

Are both your old resource and new resource in your Enterprise Resource
Pool? Has the old resource performed any Actual Work in this project? Let
me know and we'll see if you can help you.

Hello,
I have recently uploaded my Project Plan to the Project Server. The old resource that I want to replace has actuals hours before the Project Plan was upload on Server. Hence it had Actual Work earlier but now that I have shifted to Project Server, I want to change the resource.
